Custom Power BI Reports Make Construction Data Actionable for Project One
Delivered with Knight Solutions, custom Power BI reporting turned Project One’s Procore data into sales forecasts, project financial views and clearer management decisions.

01
The challenge
Project One manages fast-track interior fitout and refurbishment projects in Procore. The platform held a large volume of detailed operational and financial data, but the management team still had to do too much work to turn it into answers. Historical movements were difficult to see, information sat in separate views, and monthly work-in-progress reporting could take around two days to prepare and reconcile manually.
They needed reporting built around the decisions made in weekly forecasting, project reviews and executive meetings, rather than another dump of every available field.
02
The solution
Working alongside Knight Solutions, we built a Power BI reporting solution using Project One’s Procore data. It included:
- Sales forecasting by month, including movement between reporting periods.
- Project-level financial views for cost and margin reviews.
- Company-wide project views for management reviews.
- Historical snapshots so the team could see what changed, not only the current position.
- Focused tables, trends and exceptions instead of exposing every available Procore field.
The reports were refined against Project One’s existing processes and calculations. This made it possible to improve the model without asking the team to abandon the financial checks they already trusted.
03
The results
By project closeout, Project One said the reports had been ‘absolutely fantastic’ and the sales forecasting report was working well as part of the team’s weekly process.
The Knight Experience Survey recorded 5/5 across every scored delivery measure, including objectives, time frames, deliverables, responsiveness, conduct, follow-up, expertise and understanding Project One’s needs. It also recorded a separate rating of 10.
The team at Knight Solutions are genuine experts at understanding complex business process and financial issues. Their ability to distill this into workable solutions is a reflection of their true expertise.
The reporting will deliver a significant improvement in productivity and decision making ability

The delivery journey
How the transformation took shape
01
The journey
Knight Solutions led the client engagement and brought The Techy Side in as the technical reporting partner. Knight contributed deep Procore and construction-process knowledge. We handled the data modelling, Power BI design and technical delivery.
We worked directly with Project One’s team to understand how they reviewed sales forecasts, project performance and work in progress. Regular review sessions let us compare the reports with their manual calculations, identify discrepancies and refine the output around the meetings and decisions it needed to support.
02
Implementation strategy
- Defined the financial questions and measures with Project One before designing the visuals.
- Modelled the required Procore data for project-level and company-wide reporting.
- Added historical capture for measures that Procore did not retain over time.
- Validated report values against Project One’s manual calculations and investigated differences.
- Iterated from real weekly and monthly use rather than treating the first release as final.
03
Long-term impact
The sales forecasting report became a recurring part of Project One’s weekly process rather than a one-off project output. Historical views preserve context that the source system alone does not show, while recurring reports reduce the need to rebuild the same analysis by hand.
The shared reporting foundation also gives Project One a practical way to add or refine company-wide financial views as its processes change. Ongoing support has allowed issues to be investigated and corrected without losing the reporting structure already in use.
